NJICLE: General Equity – Should You Be Here and What Should You Do When You Are Here
On December 17, from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, Ronald L. Israel, the firm’s General Counsel, will serve as a speaker at the New Jersey State Bar Association’s NJICLE program, “General Equity – Should You Be Here and What Should You Do When You Are Here.” Equity court jurisdiction in New Jersey seems somewhat murky for practitioners who don’t frequent those courts. Equity courts have long played a vital role in the American judicial system, providing remedies where the strict application of law would fall short. In New Jersey, the Chancery Division’s General Equity Part hears a wide range of complex cases including injunctions, foreclosures, specific performance, fiduciary disputes, and other matters where money damages alone cannot provide justice.
Mr. Israel will discuss jurisdiction, procedures, and substantive issues commonly encountered in general equity courts. Experienced practitioners and a presiding chancery judge will share insights and answer the question – should you be in Chancery Division and what should you do when you get there?
