CSG Law’s Giantomasi, Toft and Costello Named to 2024 NJBIZ Law Power 50

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (“CSG Law”) is pleased to announce that Francis J. Giantomasi, a Member with the firm’s Real Estate Group and Chair of CSG Law’s Executive Committee; Patricia K. Costello, Managing Member; and Dennis Toft, Chair of the Environmental Law Group, have been recognized among NJBIZ’s 2024 Law Power 50 – a list of New Jersey’s most influential attorneys in private practice, public service, corporate law departments and nonprofit organizations.

Giantomasi has been a mainstay among the NJBIZ Law Power 50 for years, and he was again recognized in the publication’s Power 100 last year. This is the third appearance in Power 50 for Toft and Costello.

NJBIZ lauded Giantomasi’s remarkable history.

“Practicing for over 40 years, Giantomasi has experience in all aspects of real estate acquisitions, sales, development, complex commercial transactions and Chancery litigation, and has successfully argued before the New Jersey Appellate Division and the New Jersey Supreme Court,” said NJBIZ. “He is a recognized leader in planning, zoning and development law, including tax abatement law for the City of Newark and urban areas.”

The publication continued: “He has also served as chief development counsel for some of the region’s major real estate projects, such as the planning and development of Prudential’s Newark Headquarters. Recently, he helped represent Netflix in its successful bid to convert the former Fort Monmouth Army base into a state-of-the-art production facility.”

NJBIZ also praised Costello for her work.

“A former Superior Court Judge of more than 25 years, Costello serves as the managing member of CSG Law,” NJBIZ said. “In that role, she is responsible for providing overall strategic direction and overseeing the day-to-day management of the firm’s business affairs. She also works closely with the Executive Committee to develop and implement strategies to achieve organizational goals and objectives, while also serving clients. Her responsibilities include assuring that all financial and operational activities are conducted efficiently and effectively.”

For Toft, the publication noted his extensive experience.

“As chair of the environmental law group at Roseland-based CSG Law, Toft provides counsel on all aspects of environmental law, including regulatory counseling, environmental due diligence, permitting, enforcement and environmental litigation, development/redevelopment, and environmental insurance,” NJBIZ said.

It continued: “During his 30-year career, Toft has worked with every N.J. governor and administration on environmental concerns and policy issues. He played a key role in the adoption of the New Jersey Brownfields and Contaminated Site Remediation Act — and in the development and adoption of the New Jersey Site Remediation Reform Act, which establishes a Licensed Site Remediation Professional program in New Jersey.”

The Power lists, compiled by the NJBIZ editorial staff, include people who have gained public attention for their professional accomplishments and public service. Each list identifies individuals who, through their efforts, are helping to make New Jersey a better place to live, work and do business.
