New Jersey Small Business Development Center: What Every Business Needs to Know When Hiring Employees or Consultants
On April 15, from 12:00 – 1:00 pm, Catherine P. Wells, Chair of the CSG Law Employment Group, and Lindsay A. Dischley, Practice Group Leader of the CSG Law Employment Group, will serve as speakers at the New Jersey Small Business Development Center’s webinar, “What Every Business Needs to Know When Hiring Employees or Consultants.” Ms. Wells and Ms. Dischley will discuss the laws, rules and regulations regarding hiring of employees, properly classifying them as exempt or non-exempt for overtime purposes, the definition of an independent contractor, and risks of misclassifying employees as independent contractors. Additionally, they will also address the importance of requiring employees or independent contractors to execute an appropriate confidentiality, non-disclosure, non-competition, and non-solicitation agreement.
