Phil Chronakis handles a wide array of commercial litigation in New York and New Jersey, representing corporate and individual clients in litigation, arbitration, mediation, appeals and negotiations. With every engagement, Phil tempers his significant trial experience with a dual approach of negotiating and resolving disputes wherever possible to avoid or minimize his clients’ exposure to protracted court proceedings along with an aggressive, sustained and creative representation of his clients when litigation is a necessity.

Throughout his career, Phil has represented healthcare providers in corporate, employment, and reimbursement disputes. Phil was lead trial counsel in Betancourt vs. Trinitas Hospital, regarding physicians’ authority to terminate life sustaining measures. Drawing on his experience as a former Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor, Phil has represented clients in civil RICO actions and white collar criminal prosecutions. The New York Post devoted extensive coverage to his multi-million 2017 New York Supreme Court trial verdict in an art fraud action, and his 2018 defense of a woman’s right to reproductive autonomy over her cryopreserved embryos. Phil has extensive New York family law experience.

Outside of private practice, Phil has volunteered at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan since 2020, and he is a Board member of the New York Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, America’s oldest child welfare organization. Phil was an Adjunct Professor at Seton Hall University School of Law from 2001 to 2004. He has been published in the National Law Journal on the Electoral College, and the New Jersey Law Journal on drug sentencing laws.
